This week’s meeting saw six members select, sample and assess 7 fine wines. We sampled wines from Italy, Argentina, New Zealand, Spain and the U.S.A. The most popular wine of the evening was a Picini Collezione Privata Toscana IGT from the Tuscany region of Italy with a blend of 4 grapes – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz and Sangiovese scoring a very respectable 13.67 overall and courtesy of our Chairman Jim. The taste of this fine wine was described by Alan as. “It’s like licking a Chesterfield Settee.” Jim’s wine was closely followed by Neale’s “Susana Blabo” Cabernet Sauvignon from Argentina which scored 13.50.
Lewis kindly brought an additional wine, a chilled white, to start the meeting on what was a very warm and sunny evening and Talbot brought a Primitivo to finish the evening. Another great meeting !
