This evening saw the three members and one guest enjoy some outstanding wines from Portugal, Chile, Argentina and California. The most popular wine of the evening was a Rocksand Shiraz from Portugal courtesy of Talbot, scoring a very respectable 15.5
.

The evening concluded with a glass of Courvoisier VSOP.

This week the society enjoyed wines from countries far and wide. Two from Lebanon, two from Portugal, two from Italy, one from Spain and Hungary. The most popular wine of the evening courtesy of our Treasurer, Alan, was a Portuguese Aluado scoring a very creditable 14.38. The evening was nicely rounded off with a glass of Cockburns Special Reserve Port, courtesy of Wayne. Cadbury’s cream eggs were kindly provided by Craig.

The Famous Five enjoyed wines from around the world. Our Chairman, Jim, celebrating a significant birthday kindly supplied an Indian Takeaway for all to enjoy from the Saffron Takeaway together with Maltesers. The most popular wine of the night was supplied by our President Dave Llewellyn – Silk and Spice at 13%, scoring a very respectable 14.4. Wayne Jones, our Secretary kindly supplied a 40 year old Tawny Port to help Jim celebrate his birthday.


Maltese’s are becoming synonymous with New Fosse Wine Society meetings with grateful thanks to Craig. Though the wine is still being enjoyed by the members as you can see …



The 2nd meeting of the new year was thoroughly enjoyed by all. We enjoyed the company of 2 guests, Paul and James who had a great evening. Thank you to Neale for pouring all the wines 🍷. Ian for Scribe. Craig for our port and Maltesers.
We had a first for the society … a wine from Switzerland 🇨🇭 – Gamay courtesy of Ian. The most preferred wine of the evening was brought by Neale – The Reprobates, the wine, not Neale or his fellow society members! Purchased at Aldi’s scoring a very creditable 14.57. The theme was your favourite wine for £7 or under which resulted in a collection of good quality, good value wines.
The next meeting is on the 3rd of February and it will be a Free Choice evening.
This evening saw the magnificent seven welcome a local wine fancier, Tesco Tony as a guest to an evening of fine wines and fun.

The most popular wine of the evening was brought by a our Chairman, Jim, on behalf of our guest Tony.

After enjoying some very fine wines the society enjoyed some excellent chocolates and Port courtesy of Craig.
Our meeting on the 20th January will have a theme which is as the title suggests …

Friday’s meeting saw 6 members enjoy an excellent selection of wines

Three of the wines received an overall score of 14 out of 20. Quite an achievement. This included an Australian Mclaren white wine brought by Alan. An outstanding score for a white wine. The other two 14’s were red wines, an Altana Douro from Portugal, courtesy of Jim and a Spanish Matsu El Viejo, courtesy of Wayne.
Two late visitors, Talbot and Oscar, joined the members to enjoy a sample of the fine wines on offer, though Oscar wisely drank just water.

This weeks meeting saw the society celebrate Wayne’s 60th birthday. Congratulations Wayne !

The meeting was also the society’s annual general meeting.
Jim is now our Chairman, Wayne our Secretary and Alan our Treasurer. A great night was had by all and we enjoyed some excellent wines with four wines, including the guest wine brought by Craig, scoring a very creditable 14. The theme of the evening being wines with a date on the label between 2012 and 2018. The most popular wine of the evening was an Italian, Puglia, Crosiero Nero, from our newly elected Chairman Jim.
