Well Done Craig

This week was “free choice” and saw a second time visitor, Craig Brown, a guest of our Treasure and Social Secretary, Wayne bring along the most popular wine of the evening. It was an Italian Primitivo, a Pasqua Desire, Lush and Zin which scored a very creditable 15. Well done Craig.

Welcome Stuart

Our latest meeting saw us welcome a new member, Stuart. We look forward to sharing many evenings and many wines with you Stuart.

Although one of our members, Neale, was unable to attend he very kindly provided not only his chosen wine but a bottle of Port for those attending to enjoy. Thank you. Both were suitably sampled and appreciated.

A very warm welcome to our new member Stuart.

Our Treasurer and Social Secretary Wayne celebrated with the society the birth of his first Grandchild, Ivy Thea Jones on the 28th October and his 59th birthday on the 3rd November. He very kindly provided Champagne and a Cheese board to die for. Another very successful Wine Society evening.

The most popular wine of the evening was a Romanian wine called Curious Parallel, brought by our newest member Stuart, scoring a very respectable 14. Well done Stuart.

Six Of The Best

With 6 members and 1 guest in attendance, all present enjoyed 8 different wines. We had a Romanian wine as well as a Solomonar Reserve and a Botham 79 Malbec. The most popular of the evening though being an Apothic Dark 2015 provided by the society President, Dave, scoring a very fine 15.

Our Secretary, Jim, provided a fine bottle of Port, which was gratefully enjoyed by all including our returning guest Stuart.

Aluado

Another great evening with wines from Europe, South Africa, Australia and Lebanon. Th most popular of the evening being a Aluado, Alicante Bouschet from Portugal courtesy of Kevin. The word “Aluado” translating as “loony”.

After some very fine wines the evening was brought to a close with a glass or two of Port courtesy of the society’s President Dave and our scribe Kevin.

Port Glasses

A very big “Thank You” to our President, Dave Llewellyn for presenting the society with Port glasses engraved with the society’s name. This will enable us to carry on, in style, with our latest tradition of finishing each meeting with a glass of Port.

Before enjoying the Port the society enjoyed a fine collection of wines. The most popular wine was provided by our Secretary, Jim, a Montgrasi Reserva scoring a well deserved 15.

Animals and Wine

At this evenings meeting the members enjoyed the company of a guest, Mark Pritchard, and a themed evening for the first time in several meetings.

The theme? “Wines with a name or label featuring an animal”

Our guest enjoyed the wines selected by the members and the very fine Port provided by our Treasurer and Social Secretary Wayne. Thank you Wayne for the Port and again for setting up the room in the safest possible manner for us. Just in case you’re wondering… the glass in the forefront of the picture is a Port Sipper. The best way to enjoy a fine Port!
