Welcome To 2024

The first wine Society meeting of 2024 saw 6 members flying the flag. With a themed night chosen by Alan, our treasurer, which was an Australian night. The only problem being that Alan brought a bottle from South Africa – even worse there was a map of Africa on the bottle. The most popular wine of the evening was a Jacob Creek Shiraz. 14.5%. Scoring a very creditable 14. But this was a double first ! The same wine, the same year, was provided by Jim and Neale. A bottle of Port was kindly provided by our Secretary, Wayne, to help welcome the new year.

Sake Anyone?

Sake Anyone?

This weeks meeting was a “Free Choice” and saw wines from all over the world sampled by the society, including a first for us – Sake.

The most popular wine of the evening was however, an Italian Zinfandel from the region of Puglia from the Wanted Zin producer, courtesy of Neale scoring a very respectable 14.11. The Sake did not fair so well with a score of just 9, which we think is the lowest score given to a wine at the society. Sake courtesy of Talbot. Another fantastic evening brought to a close with a glass of Port.
