Spanish Six

Spanish Six

This week six of our lucky members enjoyed a wines of Spain themed evening. The most popular wine of the evening was a Monte Plogar, from the Cariñena region of Spain with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo and Grenache grapes courtesy of Paul and scoring a very respectable 13. This was closely followed by a Viña Del Cura, Baron Del Ley from the Rioja region scoring 12.83 and brought by our pourer for the evening, Neale.

At our next meeting we plan to have a curry to start the evening’s frivolities and help Wayne and Alan celebrate their birthdays.

South American 5

South American 5

This week’s meeting saw 5 members enjoy wines from South America, a theme chosen by Paul, who brought the most popular wine of the evening. Paul’s wine was a Chilean Diablo Malbec from the Valle de Maule region scoring a very respectable 13.4 overall. 4 of the wines were Malbec’s and one a Carmanere courtesy of our chairman Jim. Not surprisingly all of the wines hailed from either Chile or Argentina.

Welcome Martin

Welcome Martin

Friday 12 April saw another member join our society. A very big welcome to Martin in joining our merry group. The five members present, Alan, Neale, Tony, Jim and Martin had such a good time they forgot to take a photograph of the evenings proceedings. Our secretary, Wayne, provided an additional bottle for the five to enjoy and assess.
