This week saw 8 members enjoy a French themed evening – a theme chosen by Tony. The wines of France surprised us all with their quality and were enjoyed by all !
The most popular wine of the evening was a Cairanne Côtes du Rhône, Shiraz, Grenache, Verde blend courtesy of Neale and of great value at £3.99, scoring a commendable 15 overall. This was closely followed by two wines both scoring 14.88 – a Caballié Pays d’Oc and a Calvet Prestige Côtes du Rhône brought by Talbot and Tony respectively. Thank you Tony for choosing a very enjoyable theme. All of the wines sampled were considered good enough to receive a “Recommended” stamp of approval from the society. The evening concluded with a very enjoyable Portuguese Lusus Reserva courtesy of Craig.
